About the Event

What is the IdaHOPEn?

The IdaHOPEn Pickleball Tournament is a fundraising event presented and hosted by Gravity Fitness and Tennis. This annual tournament brings together players of all competitive levels — from beginners stepping onto the court for the first time to seasoned advanced players — for three days of exciting doubles competition in the heart of the Wood River Valley.

More than just great pickleball, the IdaHOPEn is a community event with real purpose: every registration contributes directly to making youth programs at Gravity Fitness and Tennis more affordable and attainable for local families.

How It Works

Tournament Format

1. First Round — Round Robin | All Teams

Every team plays each other — up to 7 games per team depending on draw entries. Each game is played to 11, win by 2, within a 15-minute game window. If neither team reaches 11 by 2 when time expires, the team with the most points wins. Standard pickleball rules apply throughout.

The top 4 teams by total wins advance to the semi-finals. In the event of a tie, a 5-minute sudden death playoff game determines which team advances. Teams are seeded 1–4 based on first-round win totals.

2. Semi-Finals — Best of 3 | Top 4 Teams

1 seed vs. 4 seed and 2 seed vs. 3 seed. Games are played to 11, win by 2. The first team to win 2 games advances to the Championship Final. Standard pickleball rules apply.

3. Championship Final — Best of 3 | Top 2 Teams

Games to 11, win by 2. The first team to win 2 games will be crowned IdaHOPEn Champion. Standard pickleball rules apply.

How Draw Levels Work

Any combination of skill levels not exceeding the next draw threshold is allowed. For example: a 3.0 male paired with a 3.5 female totals 6.5 — acceptable for the Mixed Doubles 5.0+ draw. A 2.5 female and 3.5 female (total 6.0) would enter Women’s Doubles 5.0+. A 4.5 male and 3.0 male (total 7.5) would enter Men’s Doubles 7.5+. Important — Day-of Arrival

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for introductions, announcements, and to sign the liability waiver (required for all non-members of Gravity). There will be no time allocated for warm-up hitting or stretching — please come ready to play!
